Some horrible man has parked too close to my car and has inadvertently scratched my car by the way he opened his door.

All these valeters are asking too much money and I'm wondering if there's anything I can be doing myself?

I found loads of great sites however they are all US Based and I'm based in the UK and not all the products are available here.

Hi brandjenkins and welcome to Meguiar's Online! How bad is the severity? A general rule of thumb we use is, if you can feel the scratch at all with your fingernail, this is an indication that you will not be able to fully repair it. With that said, will you working by hand or machine? If machine, what type of machine? Our Scratch X 2.0 scratch & swirl remover is a great start!

Hey thanks Nick. I don't have a machine so it will be by hand. I guess I won't know how deep it is until I remove some of the paint.

Hi Brad,

If you want to see what you can do by hand, our Scratch X 2.0 or Ultimate Compound would be a good first start. Typically we recommend applying with a soft foam applicator pad or microfiber applicator pad (like our W0004 or X3080). Clean and Cool surface in the shade, hand flat, work the product in with circular overlapping for about a minute or so with moderate pressure. Don't be afraid to put a little elbow grease into it, but also don't try to work the product for 30 minutes straight or anything. You can repeat this as many as 4 - 6 times or so in any particular area. This will be the extent of what you can address by hand.

I read somewhere circular movements leave streaks. Is this ok because it's on a small area?
