  • Hello all, long time Meguiars users I share your passion

From Ontario looking to prep for winter. Previously I have applied gold glass with a layer of number 26 for added depth look and protection. Is there anything more you think I could do? Thanks

When I lived in the north I applied a sealant (Ultimate Liquid Wax) as the base of protection going into the snow/cold season. I would to also apply a coat of #16 (a carnauba wax). During the snowy season when the roads were salt covered and it was too cold for me to hand wash, I'd resort to a local touchless wash to get the salt off the paint. I'd follow the wash with a Quik Detailer to get rid of any remaining road film and then used Ultimate Quik Wax to refresh the protection. This worked very well for me for years.

Welcome to Meguiar's Online! A Synthetic Wax (aka synthetic sealant) would be a much better choice if you are concerned about durability in the winter months. Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax, Ultimate Paste Wax, and Ultimate Fast Finish, are among are most premium & durable options at this time. Remember, that preparation prior to applying a wax/sealant is super important for best results. Washing of course is first, but from there, if your vehicle needs to be clayed, it is absolutely recommended. More information on this process & other info can be referenced below:

My winter prep consists of a quick pass of M205 to remove the old sealant, and applying a coat of M21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0

Give Ult Fast Finish (UFF) a good look. I used it last winter on 'the daily driver' and having use the local car wash (no-touch) during those times...I can only say, it appears that UFF did help when it came to keeping the winter uglies at bay.

Geeze-I don't wanna think about winter yet.
