  • Wax to use for car parked outside in Florida

I just purchased a 2007 Buick Lucerne for my wife. The color is white and the paint is in very good condition. She parks the car during the day in a parking lot at her place of employment. It will be sitting it the hot Florida sun all day.

My biggest concern is protection from the finish oxidizing.

    What wax would you suggest?

    Welcome to MOL.

Get yourself some ultimate wax or ultimate fast finish. Both of those will last longer than a wax.

Welcome to Meguiar's Online! I agree with The Guz, our Ultimate Wax or Ultimate Fast Finish our currently our best protecting, longest lasting protectants. Also, I understand you said the paint is in good shape, however, considering the age, I would definitely evaluate if the vehicle needs to be clayed, with a product like our Smooth Surface Clay Kit.

I agree with the clay. Even though the paint feels smooth I plan of using the clay anyway. There is nothing to lose using the clay even if it is not needed.

Do you suggest I first wax the car with Ultimate Wax and then use the Ultimate Fast Finish for maintenance?

If washing every week or two, Ult Quick Wax would probably look better.

Does Ult Quick Wax last as long as the regular Ult Wax ?

No,it is a spray wax that you can use while drying your vehicle. It gives short term protection, but is a breeze to use. I believe it will also increase the longevity of your regular waxes or sealants. Just spray and wipe. Some people also use it on their interiors.

mycar, I also live in Florida and my routine is to wash and clay then apply Ultimate Liquid Wax. I typically use Ultimate Quik Detailer every couple days to remove dust, fingerprints and pollen. I don't let my cars get very dirty so I only need to clay every couple years. Use the baggie test to determine if you need to clay. I usually hand wash weekly during the rainy season and maybe monthly during the dry season. I follow my wash or quik detailer with Ultimate Quik Wax spray. I reapply ULW around every 4 months. The paint always looks great with minimal effort. FWIW, The Ultimate Quik Wax spray is also excellent on any exterior vinyl trim. It protects very well and leaves a nice patina that doesn't wash off in the rain.
