  • M20 vs M21

The first is labeled a Polymer Sealant and the next is labeled a Synthetic Sealant.
Both are priced about the same on Amazon.
However, what are the differences in these products ?

Note some interesting commentary on Amazon:

#21 is an entirely synthetic wax.

#20 is a synthetic and carnuba blend with some mild cleaning ability.

      Thanks Murray....
but did you notice the one post that favored M20 over M21 ?
From that comment my take-off was that M21 cannot replace M20.

I've used both. In my oppinion 21 left a more shiny plastic or cellophane look to it. Some people like this look. Like wet shine tire dressing.
20 was a more deep wet look. Especially on darker colors. I keep 20 on hand. I quick stocking 21.

Found this thread while searching some recent opinions on M21, and there isn't much. However, I use these two regularly and as of late, have come to prefer the M20. Maybe it's my imagination, and I plan to start a thread asking for more opinions, but the M21 has become finicky at removal time.

You are correct, M21 is more finicky than M20. Although, M21 will last longer.

Hey Nick, thanks for the reply to my thoughts. For years I've used M20 when I needed that little bit of cleaning and M21 for the paint in good condition where I wanted longevity. My issue lately, and maybe it's been a recent change in the product or even a bad batch, is a slight bit of the sealant left over after removal. It's in the direction of how we apply it, whether horizontally or vertically, with a DA. Almost looks like a stripe. The challenge is, I can't see it inside under florescent lighting. It's only when I pull the car outside and park it in the shade, or even on a cloudy day, it'll show up very obviously. Upon wiping again with a little elbow grease it comes right off.

For info: we apply the product very thin, with a DA polisher, and typically let it cure for a couple hours. Over the years I've used many different microfibers for removal. Humidity levels slightly above normal but not outrageous.

I did notice the last bottle or two of M21 has been a brighter purple in color, maybe even a slight bit thicker. Any info on that?

                  HCAD,

Thanks for letting us know your experience. If you can, let's take this into an e-mail. E-mail me with batch codes, located on the back of product, and we can go from there. nawinn@meguiars.com.
