Pictures from Meguiar's 10/4 Thursday Night Open Garage

TNOG last night consisted of this awesome v8 Mach 1 & some Toyota 4runner leather deep cleaning. The owner of the below car was looking for some help addressing some swirls & scratches in the black stripe portion of the hood. This area on the car was completely painted & clear coated over, so we were OK to buff away.

    • We started with M205 Ultra Finishing Polish via G3508 DA Power Polishing Pad on our MT300 which equaled minimal defect removal
    • We then jumped to M100 Pro Speed Compound via G3508 DA Power Polishing Pad on our MT300 which equaled more defect removal, but not near enough. The pad was not aggressive enough.
    • Before we pulled out the heavy hitter combo (M100 via DMC3/DMC5) we tried M205 Ultra Finishing Polish on a combination of our 3 & 5 Inch D/A Microfiber Cutting Disc. This proved to be a winning combination. Although M205 is a finishing polish, it has a suprising good amount of defect removal ability when paired with a cutting pad. It also has the ability to finish done very well on more moderate - hard paints (like we were dealing with).

An attendant brought in his 1999 Toyota 4 Runner. He is the second owner. The first owner basically never had passengers in any of the seats. The leather seats were in remarkably good share for a car that is almost 20 years old. The owner was looking to do some deep cleaning, so we set him up with our G18516 Gold Class Leather & Vinyl Cleaner, a auto detailing specific horse hair leather brush, and our G18616 Gold Class Leather Conditioner, with some W0004 Foam Applicator Pads for applying. We advised the owner to use a moderate amount of product, spraying directly onto the leather brush. The cleaner will actually foam up quite a bit, and paired with some circular motions, and decent pressure, we were able to get some great cleaning ability & grime removed.

    Thanks!

It was sure nice to see the 1970 Mach 1 Mustang. Very nice restoration.
It sure brought me back to my younger days while serving in Army in Oklahoma.
