What car soap products would be best compatible/use prior to Hybrid Ceramic Wax?

I am currently looking at
1) Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Wash & Wax with SiO2 Boost
2) Meguiar's Car Wash Soap - Deep Crystal
3) Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
4) Meguiar's Ultimate Car Wash & Wax - Premium Carnauba and Synthetic Blend

The Hybrid Ceramic goes best, esp if you arent going to do anything after washing.

If you are going to use the Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax after each wash, it isnt quite as big of a deal, and the Gold Class would be ok too. You also may want a little Gold Class around for when you are doing actual detailing work after washing, since it is cheaper.

I hate everything about these hybrids. I would just like an honest answer from a Meguiars Specialist as to whether or not I can put ULW over the stuff. The morons at the online chat center say that you can put hybrid over ULW but not vice versa; why not? They don’t have an answer. Is it going to just wipe off or wash off in the rain? The User Experience and the car’s final appearance with ULW beats anything that the hybrids offer. I wish that I had never heard of them!

Interesting - we would be happy to talk through but does not sound like you are up for it. Yes Ultimate Liquid Wax can be put over anything of our Hybrid Ceramic but it will hide the water beading characteristics of the Hybrid Ceramic.

Hi Nick,

The instructions state a "one time" foundational layer. Are perpetual maintenance applications really sufficient or should a new foundational layer be done say annually?

I had been using Ultra Fast Finish for the past several years (every spring/fall), now looking for a similar product to replace given no longer available. This looks like a good alternative for a daily driver. Also looking at the Paint Coating product which is a bit more effort but longer protection.

It really depends on how the vehicle is kept, i.e. daily driver or weekend toy, i.e. daily driver washed weekly or daily driver washed weekly but sometimes every few weeks, etc.

Many people have to do some additional clean/prep steps every year like the use of a clay bar on their daily driver, as they are stored outdoors & sometimes get missed washing every week, or they are in a climate that has extreme winters, and after evaluation on a clean & dry paint, they determine clay is needed.

I think the simple answer is, when you feel/evaluate you need to do some clean/prep work prior to applying wax, then it would be time to use a foundation layer, or, now that the liquid is available, apply a coat of our Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax as your foundation layer.

- I presume is ok to use Ultimate Quick Detailer with the Hybrid Ceramic Liquid/Wax products? I know there is a Hybrid Ceramic Detailer available but I've got a couple unused bottles of UQD I picked up on sale
- I've heard clay shouldn't be used with ceramic coatings but presume the Hybrid Ceramic products are ok to clay (I use synthetic clay) prior given they aren't true ceramic products?

Ultimate Quik Detailer utilizes a different base chemistry, and you could take away from Hybrid Ceramic's water beading performance by using Ultimate Quik Detailer on top of one of our Hybrid Ceramic protection products.

Clay will start to remove any wax present on the paint.

Any overspray would burn off once you tap your brakes.
