  • Tire Dressing Stained Wheel!! Help!

Tire dressing was applied at a local car wash before a long road trip....It looks like the heat from the trip baked the stain into the finish on this Range Rover wheel. I have tried everything I can think of to get it off, but no luck.....Any ideas????

I would usually try Ult Compound or #105 or similar. Might still be worth a try..

Just like any other paint cleaner really... work in a bit and remove. Hopefully it helps...

Good golly that looks...... not good. And the tire doesn't even look dressed at all. Was the car parked in the rain shortly after the dressing was applied? It looks like it all ran down the face of the wheel rather than having been slung off - that usually throws it all over the side of the car. Crazy thing is, for it to have just run off in the rain would generally mean it's a water based dressing, and that would then be fairly straightforward to remove from the wheel surface. Are all 4 wheels stained in the same way?

Ultimate Compound is, like Murr said, probably your best bet here. But don't go nuts with it. Those wheels do have paint on them and you can still rub through, even by hand, when using a wide variety of products (including that Magic Eraser you already tried!). If the UC doesn't work, it's time for a trip back to that car wash for a very stern discussion.
