  • Durability of Ultimate Liquid Wax

I clayed and wax my car mid-December. Have a question regarding the durability of the wax. In the last 2 months there has been a lot of rain in So Cal. In this time I have also ran my car through a car wash once out of desperation. Could these 2 factors run down the wax on my car? Reason I ask is I hand washed my car today and the water beading appeared to be nonexistent.

    Any help would be great.

    Hi simiglen,

Yes, lots of rain on the vehicle will absolutely impact wax longevity. Running through a car wash could also impact the wax longevity, depending on the type of car wash & more specifically the type of soap they are using. For example, many automatic touch-less car washes, use a soap which is not pH balanced, to help get the car clean, since they are not physically agitating the car. These soaps can remove 50 - 100% of a wax, depending on what wax is used.

Some other factors which can affect longevity include:

preparation work on car prior to wax application - vehicle clayed or not, did it need to be clayed, etc.
    wax used - carnauba, synthetic
    storage - garage kept/stored outdoors
    daily driver / weekend car
    weather conditions
how often car is washed - build up of road grime can affect durability, longevity

    Hope this helps
