  • How to remove black water marks and streaks from white car ?

This is my first white car in pearl and I live in a humid and dirt environment

The marks are like etched into the clear coat or something.

Anyone know what are these and would a claybar remove them? Black streaks/dirt that can’t be removed from wash, nor wax. Don’t have all purpose cleaner, tried small amount of diluted dish soap with a sponge.

I have used ScratchX for buffing/removing minor scuff/scratches on my old silver car before, and I liked it as a multipurpose cleaner. Would ScratchX 2.0 work in this case ?

Otherwise, I was thinking the white wax or All Purpose Cleaner/Degreaser

Well, if it is etched, clay probably wont help. However its not a bad idea in general for the car.

I would pick something like the Ult. Polish or Ult. Compound these days if cleaning by hand instead of ScratchX.... but would be reasonable to try.

Not exactly sure what it is.. if it was like road tar or something, one of the decon type products may hlep, like TarX, or Meguiars just came out with a Paint Decon product.

In general, most defects can be removed either by clay bar or abrasive/paint cleaner/compound. Like Murr mentioned, never a bad idea to clay prior to performing any type of stain/defect removal. From there, Scratch X 2.0 would be a good start. If working by hand, a soft foam wax applicator or microfiber applicator pad would be best for applying. You may only be able to remove some of the defect by hand. If you are successful at removing a portion/small amount of the defect, this is an indication it most likely can be fully removed, it may just take a stronger compound & a machine, like a dual action polisher equipped with a microfiber cutting disc. It's actually a safer route to go, rather than trying to keep re-applying Scratch X 2.0 many many times.
