Is "Quik Interior Detailer" safe for my Honda?

I have a 2003 Honda Element and I need to clean and protect my interior dash and plastic parts.

The Element has plastic inside that is sensitive to some chemicals.
Using "too strong" a product, or the "wrong product", can create permanent stains, and even melting of the plastic. I have heard this from other Element owners.

So, I need to find a product that will protect these parts from sun damage, and yet not hurt the interior parts.

How will the "Quik Interior Detailer" handle my concerns?

Does it have petroleum distillates and/or solvents that may be harmful? Does it contain plasticizers?

Any ideas?

Anyone using the "IQD" on a Honda?

Good luck getting a response -- I posted a question about qid too, but I'm still waiting for an answer.

I just ordered some that I'm going to use on my new Honda Accord. I can let you know how it turns out. Are you wanting something for your dash or for the rubber flooring in your Element? #39 may work really well on your flooring, but I'm not sure.

Sorry guys... I'm meant to take action on this but somehow in the flurry of activity it fell off the radar screen...

Because I have not used this product on any of the components of a Honda Element personally, I'm going to send the link to this thread to both Tom McDonald and Mike Pennington and ask them to chime in...

I'm sure either or both of these guys will check in tomorrow with some information...

A good rule of thumb for any new product you're unsure of is to test it first in a small inconspicuous area before applying to the entire surface.

I am looking to protect the dash, door panels, and other interior plastic pieces. I'm not too worried about the plastic floor, because I put mats and carpet over most of it.

The reason I had to ask this question is because I heard from another Element owner, and he put a car air freshener on the dashboard, near the radio.

Somehow the thing leaked, and the chemicals inside the freshener, actually ate a hole in the plastic panel surrounding the radio; I saw pictures of it on an Element website I belong to.

I figured I better check with Meguiar's before using the "IQD".

I don't know about the Element, but I have a 2005 Odyssey that I recently used the QID on. I had some success and it seems to be very mild and did not do any damage to the dash, trim or door panels. It did not give me the look that I wanted (I like to see some gloss on the finish and the QID doesn't seem to provide very much) and I went with NXT Tech Protectant. I was very pleased as it went on easy, gave a nice gloss and seems to last quite a while (I 'tech-ed' it about 3 weeks ago and it still looks great).

I know it doesn't really help since it is an Odyssey, but it is my experience with my Honda......I would do just like Mike suggested and try a spot on an inconspicuous area.

I use QID on my wife's 05 accord with zero problems. I've used qid on the radio controls, radio face, cup holders, and the weird plastic on the dash. I started using QID for all my client's vehicles too. It does a great job of picking up dust and lifting spills off of plastic, and looks great on dash and door panels. I didn't like the product at first though but after reading posts here about how great the product is I agree now.

Try the product with caution and in a hidden test area if you're concerned.

I use IQD on the interiors of my '95 Legend, '98 Integra and my 2000 Odyssey with no problems. I have also used it on many other cars of many different makes and had no problem with it.

Tip: It works wonders on the wood dash panels found in luxury cars.

I think I have the same question as adreed24. I recently purchased a Infiniti G35. I have no idea what to buy and use to clean my meter, gauge len covers, and other plastic surface. The owner manual said, "Do not use glass or plastic cleaner on meter or gauge lens covers. It may damage the lens cover." So... what do I used??? Is the quick interior detailer safe?

I sent the link to this thread to both Tom McDonald and Mike Pennington last night and heard back from them today, they have both assured me that:

QID is safe on all surfaces and it does not contain any harmful ingredients.

As a new practice, we no longer discuss the ingredients used in our formulas because in the past a few self-appointed gurus will misrepresent good information twisting it into bad information for their own nefarious reasons.

So while we're on this topic I would just like to point out that Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer is not a replacement for a real interior dressing and protectant in the same way that Meguiar's Quik Detailer isn't a replacement for a coat of wax.

Both of these quick detailers, otherwise known as mist & wipe products are for light cleaning of the surface to remove dust, light dirt, fingerprints and smudges.
