    Automated car wash residue?

I've got a tailgate with some kind of plasticized gunk on it which I think came from a faulty automated car wash. I was planning on polishing it off with M10508 Mirror Glaze and a rotary polisher, but having second thoughts ... I wonder if the heat will melt the material onto the clear coat and make matters worse. The tailgate's on a 2015 F150 which is about to be buffed from stem to stern and we want to clear the stern before starting the buffing job. Thoughts on this?

Welcome to Meguiar's Online. I think a picture would be best for us to assess what you are dealing with. Is this more of a stain in the paint? Or is this some sort of deposit stuck on top of the paint? If it is a stain, then yes, M105 Ultra Cut Compound can potentially remove it. If it is some sort of deposit stuck on top, it will likely take another approach, all depends on what the deposit is & the severity.

These are grain-of-sand-like deposits of unknown penetration. They first appeared as clear grains and become cloudy and worn-down over time.

    I haven't tried any solvents.
