  • Need help with swirl marks

I used Unlimited Compund (by hand) and it made a ton of tiny swirl marks and I want to get them out and just remove most or all swirl marks from the paint what do I? Do I need to get a dual action polisher to correct the damage? By hand seems to just make it worse

I will post pictures of the swirls later

that I can not participate now in discussion - it is very occupied. I will return - I will necessarily express the opinion on this question.

      U should wash the surface
Than clay off the surface to take off any substances

When there are tiny substance and you rub them
      They make swirl marks

Ultimate Compound can leave tiny swirl marks (or dulling of the paint) if used aggressively, at least that is what I found. Try Ultimate Polish and it should correct the issue. It should polish up nicely.

Hi and sorry to see the excessive marring, this can happen at times when using a compound on more sensitive paints or darker colors. No need to worry, nothing permanent here. What type of applicator pad are you using to apply the product?

Looks like you are going to need a DA to get the results you are after. You are at the limitation of what can be done by hand. Seeing as you are in the LA area, perhaps sign up for a thursday night garage.

Here is link to next TNOG.

It would be best to still respond to Nick's questions on pad used for your UC application.
It looks like possibly the paint might have not been clean enough before beginning to compound.
That can result in dirt and other contaminants getting into the pad and then cutting marks into the paint.
When working by and, it is best to keep an even pressure across the pad to avoid "fingertip pressure" marks.
The forums have a section on working by hand.

The Meguiar's 4 1/2 inch foam applicator pads come in 4 packs.

Make sure you thoroughly clean the pad to remove any compound, before attempting to reuse it to polish.
Alternatively, use a new unused pad from the four pack to polish.
To compound or polish a full car, you would want to clean or switch pads frequently.
This is also true for pads on a dual action polisher.
