Using a cutting pad for polish

Would that work? Have both the red cutting pad and the yellow polishing pad. But what result would i expect using the red one to polish? Or is it just doomed to fail.

Thought it would cut some coners since my car dosent really need a compound this year, but still needs a little bit more then a polish. Or should i just bite the bullet and polish as normal with the yellow one.

M205 Ultra Finishing Polish is known to cut & finish well, even on more aggressive foam cutting discs. It really depends on the paint sensitivity (how it responds), paint color, and your expectations, whether or not it performs to your satisfaction. I would guess that in general, 80% of the time, a polishing or finishing pad used with a polish, is going to finish better than a cutting pad.

M205 Ultra Finishing Polish is known to cut & finish well, even on more aggressive foam cutting discs. It really depends on the paint sensitivity (how it responds), paint color, and your expectations, whether or not it performs to your satisfaction. I would guess that in general, 80% of the time, a polishing or finishing pad used with a polish, is going to finish better than a cutting pad.

Then i use the yellow with polish Cant be bothered to buy new stuff, i rather use what i have at home which is the yellow polishing pad and ultimate polish (well i have the red cutting pad and ultimate compound aswell, but but the paint is in some kind of grey zone. To good for compound, but to bad for polish)

The paint is black magic pearl (LC9Z) and a VW

I stick what i have been using, 4800 OPM yellow polishing pad, and ultimate polish

I hear ya, but..if you did want to get something different, M205 Ultra Finishing Polish is significantly more aggressive than Ultimate Polish. It is very often used for vehicles in the condition you described.

One other thought.. what machine are you using? You can try to "push" the defect removal ability of Ultimate Polish to it's limits, by using a bit higher speed, more pressure, slower arm speed, etc. Just make sure you are still leaving behind a good finish.

I see, well if its as easy to use as ultimate polish, a small bottle of M205 wont hurt. However, does it whiten trim/plastic/rubber? Cos thats one thing i love with the ultimate products.

It can whiten trim, but Ultimate Compound or Polish can also.

Then M205 it is! Nor UC or UP whiten my trim or rubber or anything, so then i take the chance with M205

I guess a 8oz (237ml) bottle is more then enough to try for one car. What speed on the MT300 should i use? Same as UP or?
