Minor chips in hood

This may be a stupid question, but is there ANYTHING out there, wax or otherwise, that provides a barrier strong enough to keep small rocks and other road debris from leaving small chips in the hood of a car?

Any sort of traditional or newer style of protection, like, Carnauba based wax, synthetic based wax (sealant), ceramic wax, or ceramic coating, is going to add slickness to the paint, which, is our opinion, helps to minimize rock chips. Essentially, have a coat of protection, is much better than nothing. However, the only way to have 100% protection from small rock chips is paint protection film aka PPF.
