  • Beginner question about Meguiar's polishing products

    Hello everyone,

I bought a Mercedes CLA 200 CDI 2014 with 38.000 Km's and i am looking to give it a full polish the car has minor swirls and some minor scratches.

I ordered a bunch of Meguiar's polishing products online and i have a question about which i should use first.

So i bought the deep crystal system products which include :

    1. Meguiar's deep crystal cleaner
    2. Meguiar's deep crystal polish
    3. Meguiars deep crystal carnauba wax

And then i bought the traditional polishing products which include :

    1. Meguiars ultimate compound
    2. Meguiars ultimate polish
    3. Meguiars ultimate liquid wax

Now my question is which line of products should i use first after claying the car ?

    With friendly regards,

    Johny

Re: Beginner question about Meguiar's polishing products

    Hi Johny,

Welcome to Meguiar's Online. Our Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner is going to have very limited defect removal ability. Ultimate Compound has much more ability to remove moderate below surface defects that are typically encountered like swirls, scratches, stains, oxidation. In addition, Ultimate Polish, has much greater ability to further refine the paint finish to a high gloss, after the use of a compound like Ultimate Compound. Also, Ultimate Liquid Wax is a much longer lasting protectant choice. Here is an article on D/A Technique if indeed you are using a Dual Action Polisher:

      Hello Nick,

      Thanks for the reply !

So if i am getting it right the deep crystal system is more for a car which the paint of already is in pristine condition ?

Let's say if i first used the non deep crystal system line of products like the Ultimate Compound and removed the swirls and minor scratches, then i could use the deep crystal system products ?

      With friendly regards,

      Johny

Technically you could, yes, use our Ultimate Products, & in future use Deep Crystal Products, however, most would go back to the Ultimate, since they would deliver more premium results in most cases. For example, if you end up needing to use Ultimate Compound for the majority of your defect removal, let's say over time washing you pick up some light swirls, those could be addressed with Ultimate Polish, then you could re-apply a coat of your favorite protection.

I see deep crystal as inferior line.
Yes, its fine fro old car correction but your new paint i would just stick to ultimate polish if you see swirls develop and top with a wax of choice.

YOu could even get good results with sealants as the paint is so new.
