Help Wanted: Hybrid Ceramic Wax question

I recently applied the HCW to one of my cars that I detailed. I had applied the HCW thinking that it would/could provide a bit of protection/longevity to the carnuba paste wax that was on the car. After doing so, the finish no longer has the same appearance of wetness or depth.

Can I apply a coat of wax on top of the HCW and get some of it back, or should I just remove it? Will the HCW even allow for the adherence of another wax?

    Thanks.

You can wax on top of the HCW but you negate the benefits of HCW as it will be covered. The beauty of HCW is the ease of maintaining with future applications of HCW. Waxing is going goof this up. My advice is either stick with wax or switch to HCW. Don't do both.

The experience I and others have had is that HCW works best on cars stripped of other waxes and sealants and applied direct to the clear coat.

Stan T, thanks for the response. I tend to agree that it should be one or the other.

If the HCW is put directly on the bare clearcoat, you really are limited as to the quality of the finish with respect to the appearance of depth and wetness.

Any Meguiar's reps have input concerning this?

You technically could apply carnauba over top of the HCW. This way you get the longevity of the HCW as a base coat and the wet look of the carnauba on top.

Re: Help Wanted: Hybrid Ceramic Wax question

Technically you could try applying a couple coats of Hybrid Ceramic Wax first to clean, above surface contaminant free paint, and then apply your favorite traditional liquid or paste wax/sealant, however, you will miss out of some of the features of HCW like the extreme water beading & self cleaning effect.

We think most would say Hybrid Ceramic Wax is best used alone or in addition to your favorite traditional liquid or paste wax/sealant, but used as your final LSP (Last Step Product).

Re: Help Wanted: Hybrid Ceramic Wax question

Nick I was told by the tech line that waxes and sealants would not stick to HCW and I would have to use a compound to strip HCW before applying traditional waxes/sealants????

Could Nick or some other representative answer the above?

The most recent Mr. Stoops YouTube video seems to mention HCW should be used as an LSP only. Do waxes, sealants, etc. not stick well to HCW?

    Thank you.
