  • How to remove spots on DP-90 and proper treatment.

I have a '29 Tudor painted with DP-90 that is 10+ years old. Kept inside, not driven in rain, never waxed, cleaned only with Glass Plus per the recommendation of the guy I bought it from.

There are some areas on the back with lighter spots that look like maybe the glass cleaner was sprayed on when it was hot? I have used a little Mirror Glaze 34 on it a couple of times and that brings up the shine a little, but doesn't remove the spots.

Any ideas on how to remove the spots? Ideas on which products I could use on the DP-90?

    Thanks for your help.

Is the DP-90 one of the PPG epoxy primers?
Does this have a mat or semi-mat finish that could be altered by polishing?

Yes, it's a flat black epoxy primer. I haven't tried anything abrasive out of concern of making a shiny spot.

We do not recommend using any traditional compounds, cleaners, polishes, or waxes on flat/matte/satin paint or vinyl. Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax, Ultimate Quik Detailer, & Ultimate Quik Wax, however, are great for maintenance. They will provide a slight added sheen, but not alter the original appearance.

As for the spots, you could try iso propyl alcohol mixed at 4:1 with water. spray directly onto microfiber towel, then dry to gently wipe the area. Other than that, not much you can do for defect removal on matte paint, to my knowledge.

Thanks for your input. I'll give that a try. It seems to me like glass cleaners are mostly water & alcohol, but they don't specify the contents on the 3 different ones I have on hand.
