Does Gold Class Premium Quik Detailer function as a sealant?

Just foamed, washed and clayed one of my vehicles, the last step with the Meguiars Quik Clay starter kit

Finished off with Gold Class Premium Quik Detailer, and all looks OK, but I'm reading that a sealant should follow clay - does the Gold Class Premium function as a sealant, or should I consider something else?

Hi Vic,

Gold Class Premium Quik Detailer does not function as a protective wax/sealant. It would be recommended to apply a more traditional liquid or paste wax/sealant, like our 3 in 1 Wax or Ultimate Wax. 3 in 1 Wax is a "Cleaner Wax" with ability to remove light swirls & fine scratches. Ultimate Wax does not have cleaning ability, & offers more protection, but ideally should be applied to a paint which is defect free. Thanks. What's the worst that could happen if I don't apply the sealant right away, having clayed the car and applied the detailer?

Is there likely to be any harm done over (say) a couple of days before applying the sealant, assuming normal driving usage?

You will be fine, there are many other people who never clay or wax their car & the paint last for years. Just make sure to remove any bird dropping or water spots ASAP. (Should be doing anyways but wax does buy you a little time.)

Follow-up - I've used almost all of the bottle of Quik Detailer that was supplied in the Clay Starter Kit, but still have lots of the Gold Class detailer left.

Next time round, on my other vehicle, is the Gold Class detailer fluid also suitable to use as the lubricant for the clay barring?

You can if you want, wash weekly and use the detailer as it does have a modified silicone in it....

Silicone in genral and on its own lasts about 1-2 weeks on my paint so if you washed it regular you could get away with it

I used a deom shine prodcut, its pure silicone in a can but a great cheap drying aid, it gave about a week on its own but gave an extra week to my lsp too so it adds something.

better off using quik wax for a spray, regular or if you cant get to washing often youll need a wax on there (or sealant
