I got tired of cleaning nicotine without doing a good job.

I don't know what you think but my wife pulled out her home cleaning kit, She went aggressive but it did the job finally! I'm still having nightmare about it...

1. She sprayed on the pad of a square microfibre wand some zep citrus degreaser and wash the window, wipe it off with a window microfibre;
   
   
2. Clay it with invisible glass cleaner, wipe it a window microfibre;
   
   
3. Wash it with invisible cleaner, wipe it with a window microfibre;
   
   
4. and finish with a polishing microfibre.

Tip, always clean your glasses before...

Sounds like a great job. Now, how does she get the smell and stains out of the rest of the car??

I do a complete wash of the interior in spring and fall. I use a dilute 8:1 Super Clean to clean everywhere except fabric (my seats are leather). Shampoo the floor carpet. In spring I replace the ventilation filter and proceed with a duct treatment to neutralize odours with something like armor all duct-vent treatment.

When we smoke we always crack the windows even during winter.

All this does a good job eliminating smoke odour year round.
