  • Recommended Wheel Cleaning Tools?

I was using a brush that I picked up at The Home Depot that seemed to work well (it's like a big, semi-circle of medium stiff fibers, sold for house cleaning). The first time I washed my new car, though, I got better results from using a new microfiber mitt (which I only used on the wheels, thanks). Any other suggestions? Also, how the hell do you clean the lug nut holes without resorting to being a crazy obsessive person with a box of Q-Tips?

You can go to something like autogeek.net and check out their brushes and accessories.

I have one of these for getting into the wheels:

    Little pricey but works great.

And a soft brush like this for the face of the wheel:

Mothers Wheel Brush - Ergonomic design makes wheel cleaning EASY! If we took a poll, wheel cleaning would rank at the top among least favorite detailing jobs. You might as well make the most of it with Mothers Wheel Brush! This ergonomic wheel ...

Usually I spray the cleaner on, go over with the two brushes, and then kind of wipe the corners, etc with an older MF cloth.

Agree with Murr that you will be able to find a wide selection of automotive specific wheel brushes/accessories most easily from on-line detailing supply distributors.

We recommend matching the "aggressiveness" of your wheel brush to the sensitivity of your wheel finish. For example, if you have a chrome plated wheel, likely not the best idea to use a nylon bristled brush for cleaning. The more sensitive the wheel plating, the more you want to stick with accessory material which is not aggressive, like microfiber, & boars hair.
