  • Help! Compounding car and noticed paint has been blown in sometime in the past!

I started the correction on my car today and noticed a spot on the drivers side front fender and a spot on the ds front and rear for has been painted in the past! You can see the outline of it on all three panels. They are pretty big, 3"wide or more and up to almost the length of the one door!

If I continue with Meguairs compound and an orange pad will it fade out more, or will I make it worse?! I have a heavier cut yellow pad to try if need be too...

    Please help!
    Thanks

I see the area in the picture you are referring to. What exact defect are you trying to address?

The outline of the paint blow in (diagonally downwards from l-r.)

Ok thank you for clarifying. If this is a blend within a panel, if you continue, it actually can make it "worse" & more apparent. Can you try to capture the defect in another picture from another angle?

I tried to get another pic, but wasn't able to get it to show (only have my phone to try with.)

I've got the car completely compounded and polished except for these three panels, so need to get these done.

i might be seeing what looks like taped off for paint then the tape and masking removed for clear. the way the lines arent straight, though throws me off a bit.
if you take your finger nail across that line can you feel it? either way that looks like some pretty bad orange peel in the clear.
i dont know if the lines will come out even with color sanding but the orange peel will.
the good thing there is the clear will have a thicker mil than factory so theres less chance of sanding through clear if/when its sanded.
