Engine detailing myths or facts?

Hi guys

I own a Honda fit ge6 gloss black
I recently got a bunch of meguairs products and a pressure washer and I'm intending to detail my own car

I did asked around regarding engine detailing but I been receiving mixed advices..

1) must I disconnect every electrical component in the engine bay or just some particular ones?
2) some say it's perfectly fine to douse and the engine bay with water and even foam!
3) regards to dressing, can I use tyre dressing or must be engine specific

Help out a detailing noob here pls

On "newer" vehicles, we typically advise covering alternator & battery with a trash bag or some other type of plastic bag. We would not say that every single electrical component needs to be covered.

Typically recommend cleaning engine when it is cool.

Water from a hose, or pressure washer is often used. With a pressure washer just use common sense regarding power of pressure washer & how close you are getting to certain electrical components.

D101 All Purpose Cleaner or our D108 Super Degreaser is often used to assist in cleaning along with various brushes.

Our D111 Shampoo Plus is often used along with engine cleaning. The suds & soap can be applied to adjacent panels to the engine during cleaning, and since it has protective polymers, it can help with any overspray of cleaners for the engine you do not want to get on your paint.

D170 Hyper Dressing or our M40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner our the most popular for dressing engine after cleaning. They are often sprayed all over the engine bay & simply allowed to dwell, and then lightly wiped later to even out appearance. You should be using more of a general water based dressing & not a tire specific product.

Quick couple recommendations but hope this helps.
