Nick, how many cars would you be able to clay with the synthetic clay? Are there any ways to clean it in case of severe contamination? And is the Hybrid Ceramic Detailer safe for G1001, C2000 and C2100 clay bars?

This is going to be a HUGE time saver / money maker for me.

My gf is a licensed, professional massage therapist. She offers a wash and wax to all other clients for an additional upcharge - when I'm available. This set here will probably work great in that scenario!

Right now I clay with the kit, and wax with Ultimate Quik Wax.

Jakub N, like our Smooth Surface Clay Kit & other Detailing Clay Bars, it is difficult to put a specific number of vehicles the particular product will complete before being deemed used up due to different levels of contaminant severity present on different vehicles. With that said, our product managers are stating a user can tell when the synthetic clay pad is "worn out" when the clay pad surface starts to leave a residue behind on paint. It is also important to note the clay pad should be rinsed after used with water, but should not be squeezed or "wringed out", since this can damage the pad.

This might be the genius sleeper product of 2020. Claying a car means stripping everything off. This makes it a tough sell to your average joe, even when its what they actually need to resolve their paint issues. Knowing they'd have to wax, even a simple spray, after doing "all that work" by hand scares a lot of them off buying a clay kit. Having a clay kit that leaves something behind is something that will be a much easier sell to regular auto parts store walk-ins. The implications for the rest of us though is being able to clay and walk away from larger neglected vehicles like fleet work trucks and vans. Being able to offer some good love to the paintwork you dont want to put in too much work on. Really good idea imho.

            Great insight!

Thinking of "back in the days" I was once an ignorant teenager, I bought the smooth surface clay kit and clay barred my entire car and didn't follow up with any protection. Thinking, "wow the paint feels so smooth."

And as you would expect, over time my paint faded and was hard to clean. I think something like this takes the "guess work" out especially for average joes who don't read the instructions. lol

Oh and I'll add, imagine doing Wash Plus and following up with this. Gently polished paint, and then smoothed and protected paint. Easy combo turning 4 steps into 2.

Thank you for taking the time to share. We completely agree & many of your thoughts are exactly what our product managers discussed & went for.

Re: Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Quik Clay Kit

Will this affect the ability of other protection products to bond to the paint if it's not actually stripped, since some hybrid sio2 will be applied via the detailer??

We would just recommend using another one of our Hybrid Ceramic SiO2 products like the new Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax or Hybrid Ceramic Wax Spray.

Re: Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Quik Clay Kit

Well, I wasn't quite sure what to make of the kit, or what it would be good for, as it leaves protection behind before cleaning. But here's what I ended up doing....

I washed the car the other week, and used the Hybrid Ceramic Spray (blue bottle) after to top up whatever wax is left. The roads here still have too much new tar on them to bother detailing. But at least mostly clean/shiny.

This weekend, I had to park under pine trees, and may have to often in the future. So of course there was lots of sap drops and junk on the car. A rain storm came through today, and washed almost all of the junk off the car. Seems like the Hybrid Ceramic did well at protection or preventing bonding.

So I grabbed the Hybrid Ceramic Detailer and clay (actually used a Speed Master Clay towel this time) and 'clayed' all the horizontal surfaces with the towel and the HCD. Went quite well, and seemed to get all the sap bits and left a nice surface, plus whatever protection in the detailer.

The only negative I see is that I didnt use a lot, but a bit extra since it was for cleaning, and it left streaking behind. It is the usual kind from these products that will fade in a day or two in the sun or rain... but still not perfect right after use.

But if I can rinse, clay, and get tree sap off easily, and protect.. I think I am quite happy.

Re: Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Quik Clay Kit

OK, I've used the previous clay kit on my cars to include the windows. Is this kit window safe as well and would a side affect of the Hybrid ceramic on glass be much better water repelling properties than the clay kit with the normal detailing spray as lubricant?

Next part of my inquiry, the clay bars I got with the previous clay kit, may I use them with the new Hybrid Ceramic Detailer? Or, have the clay bars been updated/changed?

And a final note: Love the car choice for the bottle.

Seems fine on windows, same as UQD or Spray Wax. I had some RainX on mine first, and then some mist from the HCD went on them.. wiped around with no issues. Certainly would be more water repelling than just a QD.

I wouldnt see any issue using the old clay bars with the HCD. However this kit has a clay sponge, kind of like some of the clay towels/mitts on the market.

Yes it will, slightly, but if you are going to follow with our Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax, you are following with like/like, being the Sio2 base, so good to go & no issue.
