2013 Ford Edge Sport - A Miracle Detailing - Cquartz Professional

2013 Ford Edge Sport - A Miracle Detailing - Cquartz Professional

BEFORE: Swirl city...It looked like "Spiderman attacked the car".

AFTER: Final Result...customer stated..."It looks like a mirror"!

After trying a few different pad/products combinations
    A two-step process pad/compound/polishing worked great.
NOTE: Every paint is different - Always test first.

    Correction:
Machine: Rupes 21 with a 5" backing plate.
Compounds: Meguiars M110 Ultra Pro Speed Compound
Pads: Meguiars Microfiber Cutting Disc - 5"

    Polishing:
Machine: Rupes 15 with a 5" backing plate.
Compounds: Meguiars M210 Ultra Pro Finishing Polish
Pads: Rupes Yellow Fine Foam Pad - 5"

IMHO - M110 and M210 knocked it out of the park!

Cquartz Professional on paint and wheels
CarPro FORTE Professional Windshield Coat on glass
OBSSSSD Tire Dressing - Matte on tires
CQuartz Dlux Plastic & Wheel Coat on trim

As with all your work, it looks great!! I'm picking up my shipment of 110/210 today. My bottle of 205 was almost out, and my DACP is so old that I'm not sure it is working as well as it should. I'm going to be using them on my new to me 2015 535, Jet Black. I was wondering about using the microfiber cutting disc with the 105, and having seen your results on a few cars with it, I'm going to give it a try. There were a few scratches that the DACP and a foam pad didn't fully remove. I'm trying to not have to break out the rotary, and just stick with the dual action.
For now I'll probably finish it with 16, and top it off with 27 when I can get my hands on that.
Is the yellow Rupes pad you used similar to the black Meguiars foam finishing disc?
Keep your mast up and your rudder wet !!

Thank you! That is very kind.

I feel that possibly using M105 with Meg's cutting disc may be too aggressive for Jet Black.
I have found that M105 is troublesome and a bit aggressive. My two favs are M101 and M110.
IMHO M101 is less aggressive than M105 and finishes nice. IMHO M101 is more aggressive than M110.

Jet Black is a tough color! Mircomarring (fogging) can easily occur on Jet Black paint.
The Meg's microfiber cutting discs can be a bit aggressive but they are my favorite swirl killer.
I might suggest something a bit softer like Meg's microfiber finishing discs with M101 or M110.

As far as the few scratches...unless you have a Paint Thickness Gauge I would not chase dragons.
Sometimes it's best to "improve not remove". The clear coat on modern paint jobs is very thin.
I set my PTG to microns. Question: Do you know what the diameter of a human hair is in microns?

When using an MF disc for the correction...I suggest polishing after correction to remove any hazing.
This is where the M210 comes in. IMHO Meg's yellow foam is similar to Rupes yellow.
I might even suggest a third step with M210 and Meg's black foam for final finishing.

These products M101, M110, and M210 with the MF discs and foam pads should do the job fine with a DA!

Thanks for the input. I actually meant to say I was going to use the 110, not the 105.

There is some micromarring. Even after the DA correction compound and finishing compound. I Don't have that problem on my Black SAAB, or on my Carbon Black (very dark blue) M3. I figured with my supplies running out, I may as well try a few of the newer products to see how they work.

The few scratches I'm trying to remove are the type that no one but me notices, and I only see them because I know they are there from staring at the paint while polishing!! They are not just swirls, but more like someone brushing up against the car in a parking lot while it was dirty.

See if the M210 with a yellow foam pad cleans up the fog.
IIRC M110 and M210 are the first (besides M101) new compounds & polishes Meg's has released in many years!

More reason not to try to "buff 'em out". Can you feel the scratches with your fingernail?

Luckily not that deep. I think they would have come out if the DACP were not so old. It seems to have settled out, I even used a long screwdriver to stir up the bottom, but it's probably around 10 years old.
I was thinking that I would probably use the yellow and then black foam pads with the 210 as you suggested.
