  • How best to maintain UFF ?

Applied UFF just prior to a rather long (2k+) road trip. Love this product. My question is after a few hundred miles I noticed the usual dirt, rain streaks, ect from highway driving. How should I go about maintaining FF ? Could I have just misted it and wiped with a microfiber towel ? Would I need to use a detailing spray ?

    Thanks guys...

    Hi NYShine,

Whether you are using our Ultimate Fast Finish (UFF), Ultimate Wax, or even our new Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax etc., with any coat of wax/protection on the vehicle, one of the most important ways to proper maintain that coat of protection, especially if the vehicle is driven daily or kept outdoors, is to wash the vehicle weekly with a pH balanced car wash solution or proper waterless wash solution. Allowing general dirt & road grime etc. contaminants to sit on the vehicle for more than one week significantly increases the chance of those contaminants affecting the overall performance of the protection coat on your vehicle, i.e. bonding to the paint & becoming an above surface contaminant.

If you are looking to remove, light dust & dirt, rain streaks as you indicate from highway driving, or other light to moderate contaminants without washing, there are a couple ways we recommend & have solutions for:

Quik Detailer Sprays - Meguiar's Quik Detailer Sprays are primarily designed for safe, light dust & contaminants removal. On a cool surface, simply mist & wipe with a quality microfiber towel, flipping to the dry side for your final wipe, to safely remove light contaminants. I believe many would say our new Hybrid Ceramic Detailer is one of the most exciting detail sprays we have out at this time, since it allows a user to safely remove light contaminants while leaving behind some serious Hybrid Ceramic/SiO2 Protection & gloss, especially for a detail spray. It your main goal is protection, our Hybrid Ceramic Detailer is at this time our top recommendation. Please note Meguiar's Quik Detailer sprays are only approved for LIGHT dust & contaminants.

Waterless Wash Sprays - For contaminants beyond "light", Meguiar's Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax has the ability to safely remove moderate amounts of dirt, road grime, etc. without getting out a bucket or garden hose. The combination of the design of the product, high quality microfiber towels, along with proper technique, allow for safe cleaning of the vehicle in a spray & wipe waterless approach. This is a great option to take with you on road trips, so you can stay up on the vehicle throughout the trip. (Yes I am the guy that packs a road trip kit & waterless washes his vehicle in the afternoons on vacation).

Any of the above options are get to maintain Ultimate Fast Finish.

I hope this information was helpful. Feel free to post further questions.

Re: How best to maintain UFF ?

Thank you Nick for your very informative reply. I'll definitely be picking up both Meg's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer and Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax for my next road trip.

NICK: I have been using a clay bar annually. I then follow with the ultimate wax. Then I apply the Ultimate fast finish after waiting 12-24 hours cure time. Would Hybrid Ceramic detailer be recommended after each subsequent wash, or perhaps ultimate quick detailer or ultimate quick wax? Can you apply the Hybrid ceramic detailer on top of the ultimate fast finish after washings? whats the best way to go here?
