  • New Member from Saudi Arabia - I Need help with Spotted Trim

    Hello Everyone,

Firstly, I am Haider and a new member on this forum. I am a huge fan of Maguiar's products. I have a problem on my car and need your opinions and advise to solve the problem. I took the car for the a wash and apparently they used some kind of de-greaser to remove the coal tar from the vehicle. The coal tar was removed from the body of the car but the plastic parts have some spot which i am unable to remove. Also, the shine of the plastic panels became dull. i have attached some pictures of the problem. Please advise if there is a solution to treat this problem and bring back the shine. the car was also ceramic polished by turtle wax. May be its a reaction between ceramic polish and the degreaser. However, need your advise on this.

    Regards,

    Haider.

Welcome to MOL. For the painted trim pieces you could try giving them a polish to restore the finish. For the textured trim you could try to clean them with all purpose cleaner or some IPA. Then you can use a protectant to protect the plastic trim.

Like Guz says, polish the metal trim and use Meguiars all season dressing on the plastic. https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-D160.../dp/B0006SH4NW

Welcome to Meguiar's Online. Feel free to contact me with any forum navigation related questions.

Regarding the stains on the exterior of your vehicle:

For the smooth & glossy areas, I would agree with The Guz, a light cleaner wax or polish type product should easily work to remove these stains like our A12 Cleaner Wax or 3 in 1 Wax. They do not look that bad.

For the non-painted, non glossy areas, I would recommend using an all purpose cleaner, like our M39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner or D101 All Purpose Cleaner. You can also really try any automotive specific all purpose cleaner. The areas which are smooth but not painted & not glossy, you can also potentially use a cleaner wax, but you run the risk of changing the appearance of the trim, increasing the gloss.
