UQW used wet

I use UQW after washing my truck. I was just reading about drying with UQW. I use a silicone blade then soft towel to dry. Will UQW still be effective? I generally do the UQW after drying, would be nice to do it in one step.

I wash the truck UW&W.

This is referred to as a drying aid. It adds lubrication while drying while also leaving protection. It's protection won't last as long as when applied to dry paint. You should consider not using the silicone blade. They are known to cause scratches.

Thanks Guz. I guess I'll go back to using towels. I'll give the drying aid a try since I wash the truck about once a week so length of protection shouldn't be an issue(?) Anyway it only takes about 20 minutes to do the truck with UQW.

Would agree, microfiber towel or a microfiber drying towel like our X2000 Water Magnet Microfiber Drying Towel would be recommended.

I personally use UQW, actually D156 from the Detailer product line) regularly as a drying aid. It works great to add both gloss and protection. My only reservation, which is shared by many detailers, is that the hydrophobic properties of UQW might eventually compromise the absorbency of a drying towel if it was not washed soon after use. To avoid that possibility, I do a quick wipe with my Water Magnet or even just a plush MF towel, not attempting to dry a panel, just to reduce the accumulated water. Then I'll fog a panel with the D156 / UQW and complete drying with a regular plush MF towel. Works to satisfy my phobia and doesn't add but a very incremental amount of time. I also feel that minimizing dilution of the wax by removing much of the water may extend the protection and gloss.
Both are just my opinion, not based in actual fact.
