Question Sealant -vs- Colinite 845 question

Hello all. This is my first post here.

    I have a Ruby Red/Caribou 2015 F150 King Ranch 4x4 truck.

I recently clay barred the truck, and used Meguiars Cleaner Wax. Then applied 2 coats of Colinite 845 over that.

Can a sealant be used over the top of the Colinite, or did I do the work out of order??

    Thanx,

    Risky Bizness

After two coats of 845, my first thought would be: WHY? You've already got two passes of a good, long lasting product on the paint.
If you really want to put some sealant on top, go ahead. Conventional wisdom says you are working out of order, but what do have to lose?
You'll likely compromise the longevity and durability of the sealant, but as Mike Stoops, the former Meguiar's Product Trainer once said: "After doing a generally not accepted procedure, I've never gone to the garage the next morning to find the wax had fallen of the car, lying on the floor"
Personally, I'd just leave it alone and save my sealant for the next time.

O.K. thanx. I didn't know if it would help the depth "look" of the paint or not.

I've used the Colonite product for about 5 years now, and always been happy with the look.

Solvents in the sealant would likely remove the Collinite.

The more common practice is to lay the sealant down first, and then apply a coat of carnauba wax.

Fortunately, the Collinite will last for a good long time. I think it's sometimes underrated.

    Some look better than others....

Good conversations here, just wanted to chime in, friendly reminder, if your goal is gloss, 90%+ of a show car like gloss is going to come from your preparation work on the paint, i.e. above surface contaminant removal, defect removal, a dedicated polish step, preferably by machine like a dual action polisher.

Re: Sealant -vs- Colinite 845 question

Before I joined this board, I bought me a new G8, and G9 dual action polishers/buffers. I bought a kit with the G9 unit that had various products with it.

I'v always clay barred my vehicles, and used Meguiars Gold class, along with Collinite 845. I watch all the video's that I can pertaining to prep, and applying the products. (I'm afraid, that sometimes I may apply them out of sequence).

I really like a vehicle that "pops" in the sun.

I have a Dark Cherry Red 2008 Explorer Sport Trac, a 2018 F-150 FX4, 4X4 Ruby Red/Caribou, King Ranch, and a 2017 White Gold/Caribou FX4, 4X4 King Ranch. SO, I am MORE THAN WILLING to listen to all helpful information about keeping my vehicles looking good !!

I also have a 20' F/S deck boat with oxidation, that WILL be taken care of this spring.

I need to verify WHICK pads to use with each product, to do a good job.

Thanx, for any/all help any/all of you can provide !!!!!
