  • What dang wax do I use

I'm not a detailer, just a normal guy who wants his stuff to look okay and last long. I do have a DA polisher and such but I don't really enjoy doing it. I'm trying to figure out what wax/sealant to use on my cars. There are sooooo many dang options its unreal. I prefer something thats long lasting because I only do it once or twice a year..three different vehicles. Don't really want to have to polish beforehand...claybar is fine. Previously used M21. Continue with that? I did a quick search and its unreal how many different options there are. Sprays, waxes, 3 different versions of hybrid ceramic, etc.

Welcome to Meguiar's Online. There are many different options because there are many different user preferences, goals, budgets, among other things. Based on the information you included, I would recommend a system sort of like this, Wash weekly if possible with a pH balanced car wash solution, clay bar when needed, and as far as wax goes, I would recommend alternating between our G191016 "3 in 1 Wax", & our Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax. The cleaning ability of the 3 in 1 wax will really help remove any light swirls, & dramatically increase gloss & clarity, while adding protection at the same time. The next time you apply traditional liquid wax, which is recommended for your main source of protection, I would alternate to our Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax. This is one of our most premium, longest lasting protectants available. During your washes, I would recommend using our Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax to boost the life of either the 3 in 1 wax or Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax. IMO this would be a great system.

Their NXT wax is user friendly and lasts a decent amount of time. Give it a try.

        Meguiar's M20 Polymer Sealant.

It has a very light cleaner to pick up the old gunk, and leaves a very durable, long lasting finish.

I still use it a lot.

Thanks for the response and suggestion. Can I ask...why the 3 in 1 over NXT, Ultimate, or even m20? I am guessing the ceramic can be used over top, or alternating with, any of those three? Just asking since the 3 in 1 looks newer while the other products have a pretty good track record.

              THIS.

I have a daily driver, its been to the mill and back with regards to products.. ive gone round the houses trying to find a better combo than UC and UP but i cant find it, for me anyway -why? Because I drive a daily driver, big volvo, which you cannot detail at the level you could say an Audi TT

The audi takes me all of 5 minutes to wash... the volvo, a good 15, then more for trim care and so on

SO, you need a glaze, and a good one. Winner of the classic car awards was Bilt hamber polish which is a heavy glaze all scratches dissappear. I am however suggesting Ultimate polish too, as it is full of fillers that do a great job in my own tests against autoglym auto resin polish

NXT has even more... plus it looks drippign wet like salad dressing.... thats because it DOES have olive oil in it! Well, speculation, but it does have plant oil anyway which gives it that oily slick look.

This combo will hide most of your issues, as mine does. Trying to wet snad/compound out all your problems on a daily just means within a few years you used up all your clearcoat! The scratches come back anyway, so why be scared your glaze will wash away.
