  • Question for mobile detailers with pickup trucks who haul a water tank in the bed.

    Hi everyone,

I have a full size pickup truck that I use for my mobile detailing business. I have a 50 gal. water tank that I haul to my job sites and was wondering if it would be possible to SAFELY load the tank on one side of the bed VS loading it dead center in the bed.

I can imagine that loading it dead center in the bed is preferred, but it would really help me out (organizational and space-wise) if I could SAFELY load it on one side of the bed and ratchet strap it down.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

417 pounds for 50 gallons of water plus weight of the tank, I would ask a trucking company what they think. Maybe another option would be up against the bed near rear window?

      Thanks Nick.

I also posted in a pickup truck forum as well and from what they are saying, I should be fine if I load it on the passenger side of the bed. This will distribute the weight by having the driver in the driver's seat along with other gear loaded in the bed.

I figured I would share what the pickup truck forum said in case anyone else on the Meguiars Forum has a similar question.

      Cheers.
