Of the two you mentioned, I'd be looking hard at Ult LIQUID Wax.

The liquid doesn't dry white, thus safe on all plastic 'stuff' that's on vehicles.

    Oh, welcome to MOL!

    Re: What type of wax?

Both of these products are ideally designed to be applied to a paint finish which has already been properly prepped, i.e. detailing clay used if needed to remove above surface contaminants, compound and/or paint cleaner and/or scratch remover to remove any swirls, fine scratches, as well as the use of a polish, especially for red, will work to deliver maximum gloss, like our Ultimate Polish.

With that said, have you completed any preparation steps on the paint? If you do not plan on doing prep steps, I might suggest the use of a "Cleaner Wax" like our "3 in 1 Wax."

Thanks for all the the feedback. I plan on prepping the paint...clay bar/compound/polish...… Now I just need some good weather to get the process started!

Another question. Since my red 2011 F150 (with red paint) has light scratches and swirls, would using the DA Foam pad with the compound be successful or should I use the Soft Buff pad?

I am not sure which two pads you are referring to. What machine are you using? Also which specific pads do you have? Part numbers?

The pads in questions are Mequiars DFP6 and DFC6. I also have a Griots 6' DA Polisher

10/4, I would try our yellow DFP6 Soft Buff D/A Foam Polishing Disc you have with whichever compound you have first. If that does not take care of it, then use that same compound again, but on the red DFC6 Soft Buff D/A Foam Cutting Disc you have. Also, would recommend checking out this article:
