  • Hello from Sunny Scotland

    hi everyone.

What a fantastic forum you have here. so much knowledge and help.

I have a 2015 volvo xc60 in metallic black that is full of swirlmarks and light scratches. It was a lease car before i bought it and it looks likes its visited many a car wash in its time.

Bodywork wise there are no dents ect its just the paint i feel is in need of some TLC.

I intend to tackle this myself so i have invested in a Da Polisher. appears to be a DAS-6 type machine. so far ive bought a clay bar, a 5" Flexi back plate. A 5" flexipad microfibre "one step" pad supposedly cuts and works to a finish, Meguiars Ultimate compound and i have a finishing pad for which i have some Super resin polish im not sure if i will need to use that or not after the UC.

Plan to try practice on my work car. Its a 2011 renault megane coupe in sparkling grey. Its also needing some TLC so i can use that to build up some confidence before tackling the Volvo

i plan to wash, dry, Clay , dry then start on a small area on the roof and see what i can achieve before taking on the whole car.

    wish me luck
