Running out of old polishing compounds, what should I replace them with?

My go-to product is M105 at least for horizontal surfaces that have the most imperfections and I might use M83 for vertical panels that aren't too bad. After that I go directly to UFF. I also have #9 Swirl Remover that I haven't used much since the first two products are all that are required. I use a DA with a yellow foam pad.

1) What's the latest product like M105 that gives maximum defect removal without requiring a second product to further refine its results? Looking at M110, M101, M100, M85. What's the difference between those four products and M105? The bottles all say maximum aggressiveness.

2) What's the latest product like M83 that is a step less aggressive than M105 for areas that need less intense work? Looking at M205, Mirror glazes #1 #2 #4.

Go with M110 and M210. M205 is nice to have as well as it is quite versatile. You would be all set with all 3 of these products.

OK, so 110 is just an improved 105? It won't need a second pass with a finer product?

M110 is the newest compound designed for a dual action polisher. A little less cut but a better finish. The best parts are a longer working time and no dusting.

To answer your second question, it depends on the hardness of the paint. Your test spot will be the way to go. As I mentioned having M205 around is good as it is quite versatile. The thing about M205 is that it does not always finish well on softer paints. This is where M210 fits into the picture. One would be set with these three products.

if ya use a rotary, M100 rocks with a twisted wool pad.

I've not used M110. I find that Ultimate Compound is much better than M105. No dusting and it does not flash as fast. It has almost the same cut as M105. Again, I've not tried is against M110 but it beats M105 hands down.

I would agree, my go to nows are Ultimate Compound, D300 D/A Microfiber Correction Compound, M100 Pro Speed Compound, and M110 Ultra Pro Speed Compound M210 Ultra Pro Finishing Polish. I tend to use 110/210 the most.

nick, i himmed and hawwed about that M100 for quite some time. i was blown away when i finally used it. i dont find much need for polishing after but still do it.

Awesome! I agree, i was blown away the first time I used it also. 06 LS430 single stage paint, soft paint, was spinning a large stroke d/a paired with our DMC6 D/A Microfiber Cutting Disc, wiping off the compound & literally seeing 0 ticks, & almost 0 haze. Was blown away personally myself also! M210 is just as impressive 2!

In general it would not be my first recommendation for a wool pad. M100 Pro Speed Compound is tuned way more specific for wool pad use.

Mirror Glaze Ultra-Cut Compound by Meguiar and Speed Clay 2.0 by Mothers recommended from my side.
