    Glass cleaner?

So, it's been a while since I've been doing some proper detailing - what I had was a bunch of Stoner's and/or NXT Glass cleaner.

Well, Stoner's still seems to be available, but now I see a "Perfect Clarity" with Meguiar's, and I've no idea how it compares to the older NXT Glass cleaner that I used to use.

I'm familiar with the different methods used to clean glass, and I've found varying processes that work best depending on temp and surface cleanliness, so that's not an issue - I just know I've never found stuff like Windex to work and I don't want the ammonia stripping off the tinting for windows.

So...Does anyone have any recommendations on what to try and use?

Our Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner is very similar to the old NXT Glass Cleaner. Would recommend checking out our new Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaning Towel also, works great. The towel is an amazon.com only item at this time.

    Re: Glass cleaner?

Related to this question....I purchased two bottles of the "Perfect Clarity" glass cleaner (a two for one sale). I simply cannot get the clarity from this cleaner that I was able to get with Stoner's Invisible Glass using the same type of towel (both micro fiber and terry) and same cleaning techniques. Suggestions and I shouldn't have to buy the Meguiar's towel to get the job done. Been "drinking Meg's Kool-Aid" since 1970.

    Re: Glass cleaner?

My suggestion would be to wash your towels very very well if you've used them with "Invisible" glass. Dawn Professional dish liquid is my go to microfiber wash. Maybe it's just me but no matter what that IG stuff leaves a film / streaks on my windows. The spray can version is worse than the squirt bottle in my experience. To get the residue the IG left behind on my windshield I bought Zep industrial glass cleaner with ammonia and that with a Harbor Freight microfiber cleaned the IG residue off. Considering it has ammonia in it, it is not a cleaner you want to use weekly. For that I've been using Perfect Clarity or Sprayway in the pump bottle. Both have been great for me. My feeling is the Meg's cleaner is trying to get what the IG leaves behind off but needs a little help. Get that off then try the Meg's cleaner and I think you'll get much better results. I chucked all the IG I had in favor of the other three and am much happier. Good luck. Streaky glass stinks!

Thanks, but shouldn't the Meg's cleaner simply work as directed on the bottle? If other folks have the problem I've been having, it simply will not sell. The original NXT Cleaner worked great. ( I was a beta tester for the stuff.)

    Re: Glass cleaner?

Oh I agree. I'm just saying I had to get whatever the Invisible Glass left behind off first, which was a challenge in its own and I don't think the Megs was up to the challenge. After that I've had very good results with the Megs cleaner. I never got to try the NXT. If you're having good results with IG maybe just stick with that? Personally, I don't like it but others swear by it. I often wonder, especially with the insides of auto glass, if what we're trying to clean off varies quite a bit by make, model, year, etc. Different materials would off gas different chemicals and compounds I'd think so what one person is trying to remove isn't necessarily what another person is trying to remove?
