Unfortunately it looks like your post was cut off. Feel free to edit or repost. In general, if Ultimate Compound is not working by hand, we typically recommend going to a dual action polisher machine. We typically see that more aggressive products by hand do not work either & the changing the variable of how it is being applied makes the biggest difference. If you wanted to try something else more aggressive, we would recommend our M105 Ultra Cut Compound.

Thanks , but I don’t own a buffer , and am afraid / don’t want one. I will try the m105 by hand

What kind of applicator did you use? how large an area did you try to work? How much pressure did you apply and for how long?

I used a small square of microfiber towel , worked on each small area of spots maybe 4’’ square for a few minutes before buffing off and inspecting , did this about three times on each spot to no avail.
Years ago , I had 3M compounds fine , medium, and coarse . If the fine didn’t work , I would try the medium etc.
Do any lines of product make fine , med , coarse now ?

How much pressure did you use? You shouldn't be bending sheet metal, but you do need to rub it in pretty aggressively. Your arm should get tired. If a 4x4 patch didn't work, try 1x1.

Meguiar's Mirror Glaze professional products have a cutting scale on the label. The scale isn't exact for all finishes but acts a general guide. M02 Fine-Cut Cleaner is listed as a 5, M01 Medium-Cut Cleaner as a 7 and M04 Heavy-Cut Cleaner as an 8.

M105 Ultra-Cut Compound is shown as 12. Ultimate Compound is based on the same technology as M105, but formulated to be more user-friendly for a wider audience. Its cutting capability is still up there somewhere high.

Water spots from very hard water can sometimes etch and stain very deeply. It may be possible that you can't remove all of the defects safely.

Darn quarantine. Being in So Cal you could normally take a Saturday class or come to a TNOG and play with it hands-on with the Meguiar's gang. Sorry we're stuck at keyboard's length for now.
