HELP!! Quik Interior Detailer Stained Door Panels

    Hi all,

I used Quik Interior Detailer to wipe down my interior and now all of the black plastic on my door panels have turned a whitish/chalky color. I've tried hot water, rubbing alcohol, steamer and 10:1 APC with very little luck. The only thing that has worked (slightly) is a toothbrush with some APC. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Re: HELP!! Quik Interior Detailer Stained Door Panels

Ok so I have obtained what we feel is a confident answer & also solution to this experience. After showing this to one of my co-workers who has been in business for 30+ years, He is confident this is residual street salt (we noticed Chicago) still stuck on these areas which has not been cleaned off or some other residual residue which has not been effectively removed. We are recommending to use either our D106 Professional Fiber Rinse & Tannin Stain Remover or straight white vinegar with a nylon brush, using no pressure, circle motion, to remove & release the residue. Next, All Purpose Cleaner to neutralize. Next rinse area with water either from a spray bottle or damp towel, dry, then reapply Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner.

Thanks Nick! I'll give the vinegar a shot over the next few days as I don't have any D106. As I mentioned, I did have a little bit of success with a small nylon detailing "toothbrush" and APC so I'll give the vinegar a shot with the brush.

Re: HELP!! Quik Interior Detailer Stained Door Panels

    Nick,

I tried the steps you provided and they did not work. I did wind up taking a power washer to the door panels which seemed to remove 90% of it.

With that being said, I don't think it's the Quik Interior Detailer that is the problem....it's the APC. My girlfriends door panels are also having the same issue and I've only used APC in her car. It's almost as if the APC is drying or baking itself into the plastic. When I use plain water to wipe down a panel it immediately turns white and the power washer is the only thing that seems to work. We've had quite a bit of rain in Chicago recently and when the plastic trim gets wet upon opening the door, it gets white streaks and almost has the appearance of "acid rain." The door panels are not all that difficult to hit with the power washer as I just need to tape off the switches and such, but cleaning the interior trim is going to be a tougher task. Do you have any suggestions on how to effectively remove the APC from the interior trim?

    Thanks

Interesting. Apologies for the trouble. I will discuss with a couple of my colleagues in morning & will get back to you ASAP. There has to be something going on here because our D101 All Purpose Cleaner is used worldwide & we do not hear much at all about whitening & when we do, it ends up being way too much product, which it does not sound like you are doing.

I will be in touch soon.

    Thanks Nick.

I'm stumped as well because I've used the product time and time again on various cars and it has always been great. I've even used it around the house without issue.

    How old is the product?

    Has it been frozen?

What ratio are you diluting it at & are you sure you are diluting properly?
