I would recommend checking out the Obsessed Garage Facebook Group. There are a lot of D.I/Pressure Washer Home Builds on there.

    Re: DIY deionized water

I tried to build one using (2) carbon filters and a salt ionized exchange using standard home depot products with a couple specialty items from autogeek. Though I realize this isn't a DI water solution I wanted to "save money". Needless to say it only kind of worked and I resulted in buying a CR Spotless (which has now been modified to hold more resin). I buy resin once per year which is quite expensive. It may be beneficial to look into an exchange program through a company like PureTec if you absolutely have to have DI water. A much cheaper solution is go to a rinseless water solution using DI water from Target or your local grocery store (usually $0.89/gallon). When I did my cost analysis using a pressure washer attached to CR spotless, it cost me about $10 to was a car due to resin loss/exchange.

Thanks for the info TR. I haven't heard of PureTec, but will look into it. I had a DI tank from a Large water filtration provider. Originally it started ok great, but after the company was sold, bought & sold again the quarterly billing increased (I had a contract) & they would return my checks, "undeliverable", multiple address changes to the billing department, I told them to get the tank out of here. I really don't want to go down that road again.

I found that write up in my searching. I found a business about 2 miles from my house in Fountain Valley that will build a DI tank ( so I can purchase it) for around $300. I am going to stop by and check out the equipment & quality of the parts this week.

Let me know if you do not mind too because I agree with the CR Spotless set up resin goes fast & is expensive.
