    Yeah i think the face is 5.5" or 6" but the back is 5". I don't think this particular DA can switch backing plates which is a little bit annoying, but i guess you can't have everything in life. There are a couple other options for DAs but i can't find many reviews unlike this one. These are 'supposedly' not far from the Rupes and i think 12mm should be ok for a beginner.
