  • Can someone recommend me the full kit for new vehicle detail?

I have dabbled in the past with clay and the ultimate wax and even carnauba but its been a while. Tomorrow the wife and I are picking up 2 new Jeep Wranglers and I want to start them both out right.

I see a new product since the last time I was into this, the ceramic clay kit and wax. Would this be a good start? if so what else should I order? Anything recommended for the outside of the glass? If it matters I do have a porter cable orbital to use also.

    Thanks

You might at least want some paint polishing liquids around, like Ultimate Compound, and (especially in your situation) Ultimate Polish. Grab the full assortment of Meguiar's foam and microfiber discs - they all work great with the Ultimate line, and you never know what you might run into.

As far as the clay kit, go for the traditional Smooth Surface Clay Kit if you are going to polish and wax/sealing the paint. If not, and you want a quick decon/seal, than the Ceramic Clay Kit can get you up and running.

I polish glass with Ultimate Compound and a machine polisher, and seal with RainX.

Thank you will do then. I assume the ultimate compound scratch and swirl with the cutting and finishing grade microfiber dics are what you were meaning or are those to harsh for a new vehicle?

It sort of depends on what condition they give you the cars in. Hopefully just some Ult. Polish would be needed. (with clay if needed).

If they are in real good condition, and just need some polish and wax wiped around, going by hand wouldnt be so bad.

          this helps step by step
As Dirty Harry once said: ‘Opinions are like a**holes. Everyone’s got one.’ When it comes to car care advice he was bang on the money. Everyone’s washed a car before and will be happy to tell you how. Sadly, only a few know how to detail a car properly. We’ll take you through the basic steps here. 1. WASH 1.1 PRE-WASH

It also depends on what your overall goals are for the vehicle, i.e. if you plan to try to eliminate all defects like swirls & fine scratches OR are more so just focused on gloss & protection.

Which would you say you will be focused on for these vehicles?

The ceramic clay kit comes with the new hybrid ceramic detail spray. It won't have the longevity/durability of a dedicated wax or sealant. It is more of a maintenance product. If you use it often you will have decent protection.

You are going to have to evaluate the paint and determine the level of paint correction by doing a test spot. Just keep in mind that claying does induce marring and polishing will remove that. Or even an all in one (AIO).

Dan gave you some good information with regards to pads and polishes. I would recommend you pick up a set of 5 inch pads for the porter cable you have.

You have the option to venture into the new ceramic infused hybrid ceramic liquid wax. It pairs nicely with the hybrid ceramic detailer.

On the glass, Meguiar's offers the perfect clarity glass kit that includes the compound and glass sealant.
