  • Strip wax for polishing

    Hi,

I am planning to polish my car. But I think I need to first strip the wax off. Any best ways to remove the wax?

    Thanks

    BK

If you are using a product with some cleaning, swirl removal ability, you really wont need to remove old wax.

No need if using something like Ultimate Polish, or M205/M210.

We do not have anything specifically designed to remove protection from automotive paint, with that said, as other members have mentioned, Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit, Professional Mild/Aggressive Detailing Clay, D1801 Wheel & Paint Iron Decon, Detailer RTU Iron Removing Spray Clay, and any mild paint cleaner/cleaner polish, will work to remove existing protection.

you could try to use mineral spirits on it thoroughly and then hit it with a quick surface prep. That would remove most of anything that is on there before polishing.

It is a good idea to remove protection or as mush as possible before polishing as it will help from clogging up the pad and will make the correction go faster as its not going through the protection layer first.

also the polishing will remove any remainder of protection.. then repeat the spirits and surface prep after polishing to remove oils
