  • Sap removal.

I have some thick, sticky sap spots on my wife's white 2017 Toyota Sienna. The spots are about 1/4" in diameter and are raised.
I tried washing with warm water to soften, plastic razor blade, bug/tar remover. It did knock it down but you can still feel the spots and there is a ring that is etched into the paint. Usually the sap spots in our area are small spots that come off easy. I have never come across sap so thick and heavy.

I am a hobby detailer, I have 2 years experience with a DA and almost 40 with a rotary. I use to do paint and bodywork.

Any tips or suggestions would be great.

    Thanks

      Hi.
Try to use alcohol, solvent or acetone.
I use 100% alcohol with cotton disc.

Yes this work and I always be sure to clean the product off the vehicle well either with lots of water or detailing spray. I do not like to leave on the vehicle for fear of damaging paint

The Goo Gone Automotive Specific Formula has worked well for me in the past. Always a good idea to neutralize surface with a pH balanced car wash soap after application. From there, assess any stain & address as needed, can always do some light sanding (3000 Grit Foam Backed Disc like Meguiar's Unigrit or 3M Trizact) if needed to assist in removing a deep etching.
