I just bought a new 2021 Camaro in black... I have been detailing for 15 years or so and have had black cars prior. Using a wide range of Meg's products and pads, never had any issue getting that showroom shine on various vehicles. However, the GM clear on the Camaro is super soft. Easy to correct, but difficult to get a perfect finish.
Detailed it on Friday to remove dealer-installed swirls/blemishes and get a coat of the Meg's Ceramic Sealant on it. I picked up M205 and with my DA, worked a small area with a standard cutting pad. However, this left micro-marring even though it easily removed the swirls. I switched to a finishing (black) pad, which was better, but still I have signs of micro-marring. I tried applying M205 by hand, various levels of work time with the DA, speed settings, etc... It seems I need something more gentle than M205. In the sun the car still looks great, it's mainly just showing when under bright LED lighting that I notice. I assume if I can get rid of it, I would bring in even more depth to the paint.
I also tried a section with Scratch X 2.0 and Ultimate Compound, but same deal. Tried both with the finishing pad.
I'd imagine I need something gentle with diminishing abrasives to clear the marring left behind. What Meg's product is best for that? Would #9 be that product?
Appreciate any help and feedback.
