    Get the scratches removed

    Will taking your car to the detailing shop to get the scratches removed cause your clear coat layer to become thin?

    Polishing and/or compounding abrade the surface and do remove clear coat. There is no set number of times it can be done. It will vary.

    It also depends on the how deep that scratch is. It could be minor or it could be deep where it already penetrated though the clear.
