Hi all
Over the last few days i attempted a full detail with a DA for the first time. I completed it over 3 days as I had some time off work and took my time and potentially introduced more steps than needed, but it did highlight the durability of Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax (HCW) and Ultimate Quick Wax (UQW).
As a side note - i learned that my paint is extremely soft black paint. Ult Polish seemed to marr it as did a surface cleaner when wiping off polish oils! Anyway, that is a separate thread perhaps.
i've been using up a bottle of UQW and maybe every 2 weeks i will spray coat my wheels. First thing I did was to use Ultimate Wheel Cleaner on these. In-between applying UQW on the wheels the beading never waivered. Of course after the wheel cleaner the beading began to fail - but not completely! Firstly, for a spray wax to last 2 weeks on wheels (maybe longer but I washed too frequently to test) is pretty good in my eyes! To then not completely fail after an Iron remover is also pretty good!
Next up was a wash and full decon. The bonnet (hood) had a reasonably fresh coat of HCW (1-2 weeks) on it but the rest of the car was maybe 2-3 months old. Car is garaged near 100% of the time and washed once every 1-2 weeks. It has been raining here heaps though lately. I first washed the car with a double strength Nxt car wash. I then hit some areas with with bug and tar remover which killed the coating a bit but not completely.
After this I did a full iron decon. Upon rinsing the iron decon off it was still beading as new. I then washed again and the beading was still tight. I then clayed the whole car and washed again. Again, upon rinsing the beading was still 100%. No compromise to the beading was introduced via a wash -iron decon - wash - clay - wash.
To me this is pretty impressive!
