  • Swirls inside of Ceramic

Newbie here, take it easy on me.

I made a rookie mistake when using Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax. I sprayed on the wax and then used a microfiber cloth to wipe it off. Immediately you could see scratches/swirls in the paint.

i have tried various compounds and polishes to get it out, with no luck. I've tried Meguiars 105 ultra cut compound, Chemical guys VSS scratch and swirl remover, and a few others. I've tried various pads on Torqx DA polisher. These things wont budge.

Is there a product i need to use to remove the ceramic layer? I've used a clay bar and Chemical Guys Clean Slate to try to remove that layer as well.
    Car is an Audi S5.

    Re: Swirls inside of Ceramic

Welcome to Meguiar's Online. We are happy to help. Are you sure you are not just noticing existing scratches in the paint? There's really no way spraying & wiping our Hybrid Ceramic Wax would inflict scratches unless the paint was dirty or the towel was low quality or you were rubbing extremely aggressive to try to get off the Hybrid Ceramic Wax. Also, Hybrid Ceramic Wax should easily be removed by the use of really any compound or even a less aggressive product.

Any other details you could share? I would imagine you have a very difficult time removing the Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax from just a spray & wipe application on dried paint, as you mentioned this is not the way the product is used. Is that what happened? You were rubbing aggressively to remove? How large of an area?

Thanks for the reply! You could be right. I may have been rubbing too hard to try and "hand buff" the ceramic wax. As soon as i noticed it i read the directions again on the back and then i hosed off the rest of the hood. The Stracthes/swirls are only in the area I was buffing it out with my microfiber towel.

It's roughly a 2x2 area in the middle of my hood.

Can you please try to take several more pictures? Try different lighting, different angles, close up, wide shots. This will help us further advise.

Here you go. Some up close and some further back. It's hard to see in direct sunlight so i couldnt get any with it outside.

Weird looking scratch. Doesn't really look like a scratch. Are you generally familiar with basic D/A machine operation & have removed scratches/swirls before?

Years ago. Not to sound like a rookie but i probably watched a few hours of video before operating it on this car, just to make sure i did it somewhat properly. This is the DA and i used the orange pad first and then tried the white pad. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

                  Should I try different pads?
