  • Meg's D120 instead of IPA?

    Hi guys,

Have just ran out of my IPA.

Can I use Meg's D120 instead of IPA? If so, what ratio to deionised water?

    Thanks.

A better solution would be Megs new M122 Surface Prep if you are trying to get your paint clean prior to polishing and waxing. Meguiars just had a webinar on this new product a week or so ago and it really is a better solution than IPA. Check the February webinar schedule thread for details. Maybe you can get a link to the replay.

        Hi rapport25,

We have used D120 at 10:1 around the office mainly to assist in stripping our demo panels of any waxes, that said, we can't really guarantee it to accomplish any certain task when used on automotive paint since it was not designed & tested for this use.

In general, automotive specific glass cleaners are not very strong & can be used on automotive paint.

Like theamcguy mentioned, M122 Surface Prep is our go to for this category now. Meguiar's M122 Surface Prep

          Hi Nick, thanks again.

I remember using D120 many years ago now as a panel wipe.

Just to confirm 10 parts water to 1 part D120?

I'm sure I used it in the past at 5 parts water to 1 part D120

We would not recommend it to be regularly used like that but yes 10 parts water 1 part concentrate.

Thanks. It was just while I was looking at a new panel wipe/ IPA.

Shame we don't get any of the new Megs products in the UK. :-(

Still not seen Bead booster over here yet and that was out in the USA in 2019.
