  • Satin/Matte Tire Dressing

I've used Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel G7516 for years but it's just way too glossy and sticky for the new 22 inch wheels and tires I just got (way lower profile compared to the old 16 wheels and tires we used to have). Can anyone recommend a good satin/matte finish tire dressing? I've tried a few including Zaino Z16 but I find that the water-based ones wear off so fast. The Zaino product was very over-rated unless I was doing something wrong with applying it, seemed no matter how much I put on, it just wouldn't produce an sheen whatsoever.

The good thing about Meguiar’s Endurance Tire Gel is that it lasted forever (and I mean FOREVER) but no matter how hard I try, I still can't get a satin/matte finish no matter how much I wipe off after applying it.

I see the new Meguiar's MB0714 Mirror Bright Vinyl and Rubber Treatment, has anyone used this and does it last as long as the Endurance? Is is really a satin/matte finish?

Mirror Bright Vinyl & Rubber Treatment, which is no longer produced for US markets (for no reason other than it was just not very popular) is very similar to our #M40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner. This product, #40, is what we use a lot around the office here at Meguiar's when we are looking for a more original appearance. That said, it is water based, & typically needs re-applying every week if on a daily driver. Pros & Cons.

Don't forget that it is really important to scrub & clean your tire sidewall often, in order to achieve maximum performance for any tire shine. Our M39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner works great as a dedicated cleaner or if you have clear coated wheels, our Hot Rims Wheel & Tire Cleaner / D143 Non Acid Wheel & Tire Cleaner. Also important to apply to a dry tire.

There might be some products out there by other brands which are longer lasting & more original appearance which other forum members are welcome to recommend, as we welcome discussion of any brand products on this website, but for Meguiar's any of our tire shine/conditioner products which have a more original/satin look are not the longest lasting solutions.

Unfortunately as Nick said Meguiar's doesn't really have to many satin tire dressings. I use Car Pro Pearl when I want the low gloss look ( I also use endurance when I want the high gloss, depends on the vehicle!) But just like M40 it's water based and doesn't last forever, maybe a couple weeks at most

Car Pro PERL 1-1 is fantastic & can be layered on tyres. I use PERL mixed at different dilutions & find it great! Non greasy, which I like alot.

I stopped using Endurance due to sling & attracting dirt & dust.

I think I'll just stay with Endurance since it lasts so long, I have to try to use a lot less, though. And rub off the excess and see how it goes.
