  • Best Course of Action

Greetings ... first time post here.

I've got a `99 Trans Am and the front and rear bumpers have got some clear coat peeling. I was able to remove the flaking clear and sand the edges where you can't catch a nail on it. So what I have now is a hazy clear coat as well as a dull base coat. I was able to get some shine out of the base coat by buffing with some of the ultra compound. I'm just not sure if I'm at that point where I should strip it and just paint it or buff it all out.
    Thanks for any advice.

I used the ultra compound on the whole fender and then wax. That did the trick. It's not perfect but I don't expect perfection from a car with 372,000 miles on the clock!

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online.

I have heard that paint shops can scuff clear coat & re-spray (Opposed to starting all over). I have never seen the end result & do not know the details on the process, that said, it can be done. Whether it is best option or not, etc., i would not know; i am more versed in the after painting process.
