  • Paint correction before M27- always necessary?

    Good day.
I went over my challenger with 105 and 205 about 6 months ago and applied M27 and was really happy with the slickness and gloss. I just stripped the car and it feels smooth with all the coatings removed . I sprayed some iron decon in a test spot and didn't show any purple so I'm pretty confident it's clean.

My question is Meguiars recommends paint correction before applying the M27, but is that necessarily EVERYTIME you reapply it? The thought of polishing my factory clear coat every 6 months or so worries me alittle. I feel like if I maintain the coating..there shouldn't be a problem removing the old coating (c.g clean slate seemed to remove it easily), decon/ clay if necessary and reapplying without paint correction. Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated.

You do not absolutely have to, especially if you are maintaining at a high level. I know what you are referring to on the labeling & I believe it is mainly on there so users do not feel they can take a car that has not been properly maintained for months or years, then assume they can decon/clay & go straight to M27, like you could other waxes like M21 or M66.

Thank you Nick. That's what I assumed..but thought I would ask the experts.. I figured the worst that happens is I need to remove, polish and reapply which isn't that bad as that product is really a joy to work with.
