New to Meguir's Online. Looking for advice on cutting and buffing a fresh paint job.

I have a newly painted 1988 K5 Blazer. It was painted in December 2020. It's painted black. Base / Clear. 3 coats of clear. I was planning on blocking it with 1500 followed with 3000 on a DA. I was thinking I'd rotary buff it with M101 and a foam pad followed by M07 Show Car Glaze. Then completing the project with Ultimate Liquid Wax for protection.

I'd appreciate anybody's advise or input on this project.

For this task, most people would run a wool pad for the compound step, including most of us around here at Meguiar's, such as our WRWC8 Soft Buff Rotary Wool Cutting. Wool will cut more, which you will likely need, although it will leave more swirls/holograms. M105 Ultra Cut Compound or M100 Pro Speed Compound for a wool pad would be better. M07 Show Car Glaze is a pure polish. You will want something with refining ability, like our M205 Ultra Finishing Polish via a polishing pad like our WRFP7 Soft Buff Rotary Foam Polishing Pad. This will work to remove the swirls/holograms & further refine the paint finish/clarity. Then you can go to Ultimate Wax.

Dave, You probably did this already. If not, check with your painter to see if enough time has passed for the paints they used to off gas.
